An analysis of 27,500 terrestrial vertebrate species listed by the International Union for
Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in 2017 confirmed that over the past few decades,
the population of about one-third of all species has declined.
Many are threatened by human activities.
By 2200, 41% of amphibians, 14% of birds, and 25% of mammals
are expected to become extinct.

What is Biodiversity?

Biodiversity is a complex web of threads that are intertwined with each other without a beginning or an end.
One organism affects another, and this organism affects the ecosystem and lives.
A natural ecosystem is maintained by various organisms
such as animals, plants, and insects, and all living things on Earth can live peacefully.
The ecosystem is constantly circulating.
A natural ecosystem is made up of a huge system of small systems connected to each other.
Millions of species are connected within it, which makes biodiversity more robust

The value of biodiversity

The loss of biodiversity, symbolized by the destruction of tropical forests,
has important implications for human culture and well-being,
and even for human survival itself.
Humanity has obtained clothing, food, shelter, and especially food,
medicine, and industrial products from the components of biodiversity.
The components of biodiversity are also very important
for human health, >And at one time,
almost all medicines were derived from plants and animals.
In the United States, 25% of prescriptions contain
ingredients extracted from plants, and more than
3,000 types of antibiotics are derived from microorganisms.
In addition, medicines that care for 80% of the population
of developing countries are extracted from plants and animals,
and it is known that traditional oriental medicines use
about 5,100 species of plants and animals.

What happens when biodiversity disappears?

If biodiversity is not protected, our lives and the lives of all other living things will be at risk.
For the survival and convenience of humanity,
humans use and consume more and more natural resources.
Overexploitation of the oceans, destruction of forests,
pollution of the environment and water threaten the survival of all species.

Coral provides a necessary habitat for many marine species. If coral disappears, it can lead to the death and extinction of marine species. In addition, the role of absorbing the shock of earthquakes and waves that occur on the seabed is reduced, which increases the damage to land. In addition, as seawater easily flows into groundwater, groundwater on land mixes with seawater and cannot be used as drinking water or agricultural water.

80% of the food we eat is related to bees. Of the 100 major crops grown for human consumption, 70% would not bear fruit without bees. Therefore, if bees become extinct, food production will be seriously disrupted, affecting the survival of humans. In addition, if plants become extinct due to the extinction of bees, it will affect the oxygen supply on Earth.

Bananas are the fourth most consumed food resource in the world, after wheat, rice, and corn. If bananas disappear from the world, it means not just the disappearance of a single fruit, but also the disappearance of food for 400 million people. We must remember that only an ecosystem with secured genetic diversity can be healthy and sustainable, and we must make more efforts to maintain a balanced ecosystem.

Biodiversity is us

We are all connected

Biodiversity provides a 'safety net' for
the survival and prosperity of all life on Earth,
including humans.
When natural ecosystems are in balance,
they purify pollutants from water and air,
maintain soil, regulate climate, prevent disease outbreaks,
and recycle nutrients to provide resources for us.

WWBCO

World Wide Biodiversity Conservation Organization

Biodiversity refers to all life on Earth.
However, due to rapid changes in the Earth's environment,
the number of plants and animals disappearing at this very moment is increasing.
If the Earth's biodiversity is not maintained, the lives of humans, its members, can never be safe.
Efforts to protect biodiversity are a task that no one can do for us all.
WWBCO is an international organization established to contribute to environmental awareness in the era of climate crisis and to realize the business value of corporate eco-friendly social responsibility management and sustainable development philosophy through the establishment of the International Sports Camp (ISC), domestic sports camp, WBC Forum, and International Biodiversity Future Exhibition Hall.
